So this is for you sciencies out there…
While I’m aware that there are probably billions of holes in what I’m about to say, hear me out:
I am an atheist. I don’t believe in a deity. This is regarding reincarnation. Many people hear that word, including myself, and think: that’s ridiculous. You’re not going to be reincarnated as something else on this Earth after you die. I’m here to say that I agree with that opinion. More than likely, when you die, you ain’t coming back on this planet. However…
Your body is alive because your organs at some point have produced or managed a certain amount of life energy. Once that energy can no longer be maintained, you die. Where does that energy go? Well, it gets consumed and re-used by other creatures and plants in the environment. Our scientific law says there is no way to destroy energy.
I personally believe that the universe is a cyclical event. That is, it explodes, expands, eventually cannot support the mass it has created, and retracts to implode and start all over. What happened to all the energy that was in the universe? It simply gets re-distributed and re-organized in to other things. Suns, cores, cells, you name it. It has to go somewhere because it cannot be destroyed.
That being said… What are the odds that the energy that makes you you will never be re-assembled? Certainly a billion universes must go by for it to happen again but… Couldn’t it conceivably happen a second time? A third?
My boyfriend is a Buddhist. He practices meditation regularly. While he cannot accurately explain to me what an out of body experience is, he assures me he has had them and that they feel completely without time. He said one of the most memorable ones he had lasted for hours and when he came out of it, it felt like a fraction of a second. Is it possible that as soon as we die, our energy slips out of our bodies and we awaken (in what feels like a second) in another organism, in another universe, in another time? He also has explained that when you see your body, you are unaware that it is your own. It’s simply a vessel with no purpose. Is it possible that this amnesia occurs when you are re-made? You have no awareness of your prior life save for the richness and applicability of its experiences?
If that is the case… Are the people who we find in this life that are more secure in themselves and what they think simply energies that have been re-arranged billions of times over billions of universes?
Just some food for thought. Please feel free to contribute your own opinions. I love to learn ;)
